Prayer Ministry at Beth Tephillah

Healing Prayer Ministry is available by appointment at Beth Tephillah Ministry Centre, which opened in 1996 as a ministry of Williamstown Baptist Church. It has a trained staff drawn from numerous denominations and while most are from the Western Suburbs, some come from further afield. Beth Tephillah is particularly dedicated to equipping and facilitating the ministry of God’s people in the Western Region of Melbourne, but people from anywhere are welcome to participate. The team who provide prayer ministry have trained with a number of organisations and methods, including Elijah House Australia, Wholeness Through Christ Ministries Australia Inc (WTCMA), Ellel Ministries International, Sonrise Family Ministries, Ed Smith's Theophostic Ministry, and Beth Tephillah Ministries' own training course. In Healing Prayer Ministry, which used to be called Prayer Counselling, a small team (usually two) of trained prayer ministers will talk and pray with the person needing healing, using the gifts of the Holy Spirit to discern what God wants to do, and cooperating with him to bring about healing. It is not counselling, and the team are not counsellors. We rely on the one Great Counsellor to do the work, through our prayer in the name of Jesus.

At Beth Tephillah we have also found it very helpful and effective to always have a separate intercession team in another room. These are gifted in listening to God and carrying out spiritual warfare on behalf of the team and the person receiving ministry. They also write down whatever encouraging words they receive from the Lord, and this sheet is given to the person near the end of the ministry time. Many remarkable testimonies have been told of just how accurate and helpful these words have been in confirming what God was doing during the ministry.
